The material

One carpet, inlaid

We make one material and work it in one way: the design is made of pieces of carpet in different colours, not printed on top. It is slower. It lasts as long as the mat.

Indoors and covered outdoors

The carpet

This is a mat that works. The fibres pick up the coarse dirt and absorb the damp off soles, and the rubber backing holds it still even under trolleys and wheelchairs. It belongs in a hotel entrance or a winery; not out in driving rain, where it would hold too much water.

The logo that does not wear away

The inlay

On a printed entrance mat the colour sits on the surface and walks away underfoot. In an inlay the colour runs through the whole depth of the fibre: the logo stays sharp for as long as the mat exists. It is cutting and assembly work, like a jigsaw — which is why lines under 2–3 cm cannot be made, and why the vector file is needed.

Twenty-eight carpets

The colours

Nothing is dyed to order: you choose among twenty-eight pre-dyed carpets, and that is an advantage — every colour already exists, you can handle it, and it will be the same in ten years. If you have a Pantone, we pick the nearest carpet and send it to you before you decide.

Neutrals
white, beige, greys, anthracite, black
Mélange
beige, grey, burgundy
Shades
blues, greens, reds, orange, yellow, purple, pink

The border — made-to-measure mat in inlaid carpet

Single, double, decorated

The border

The border is what makes a mat look drawn rather than cut. A single border in a dark shade closes the field; the two-colour double — gold outside, graphite inside — is the classic of hotel entrances; the decorated one sets a Greek key or a meander running all the way round without breaking at the corners.

Margin
from 5 to 30 cm from the edge
Width
from 2 to 30 cm
Patterns
meander, Greek key, roman, maze
Anti-trip edge
rubber perimeter 4.2 cm, if surface-laid

Care

How to keep it

Every day

Vacuum cleaner or carpet sweeper: dust and dry dirt come out of the fibres.

Deep clean

Water and neutral detergents, then dry it flat in the air. No washing machine, no tumble dryer, no bleach.

Pressure washer

Low pressure and at a distance only: a strong jet up close ruins the joints of the inlay.

The first few weeks

A slight shedding of loose fibres is normal — it is cutting residue — and it stops after the first few vacuums.

And if the entrance is out in the rain?

Then carpet is not the right answer, and we say so: in driving rain it would hold too much water. For those entrances we point you to a draining material. Tell us where it is, and we will answer you honestly.
